Gypsy, Traveller & Roma Communities Two Day Residential 2014

This is the third national gathering of Gypsy, Traveller and Roma communities since February 2013 and will take place over two days at Margam Park near Port Talbot, Wales. The original idea for these gatherings was to build consensus on a unified vision and a strategy for change that would help bring about meaningful improvements in the lives of Gypsies, Travellers and Roma.The event is being run and delivered by community members with administrative support from the Travellers Aid Trust.

With an election coming early next year, the gathering will focus on four main areas of work –  Accommodation, Health, Education and Employment. We are keen to engage young people, small groups and individual community campaigners as well as the more established Gypsy, Traveller and Roma groups and will look at ways for everyone to have an equal voice in shaping the future. Films and displays will be showcased along with presentations by Community Champions as well as singing around the camp fire. The event is free to community members with travel and accommodation paid for. There are a limited number of places and these will be evenly distributed amongst Gypsy, Traveller and Roma community groups and individuals on a first come first serve basis.

Fees
GTR organisation are entitled to 2 free* places for workers
and either:
a) 3 additional free places for young people or
b) 1 additional place for a community member.
*including accommodation and travel
Places will be allocated on a first come first serve basis. If you require additional places, you can purchase these for £50 each (excluding accommodation and travel) by contacting the Trust.

Please note that a refundable deposit made payable to the Trust will be required for all bookings. Groups are required to pay £50 and individuals £10. Any cancellation of bookings after the 3rd of October will result in a loss of the deposit. Deposits will be repaid upon arrival at registration. When booking using the Eventbrite system you will need to book your tickets, then purchase a deposit ticket.

Please note that single rooms are not available at Margam Park but we will try to give single occupancy in a twin room if absolutely necessary.
